US Constitution

Yesterday (January 11, 2017), Representative Adam Smith (D-WA) was quoted as saying:

The Republicans have been spending eight years complaining about the executive branch usurping legislative branch power and here’s their first move from the new administration is to ignore us on something,” Rep. Adam Smith, D-Washington, the top Democrat on the panel told reporters Wednesday.

Smith added, “This is a law. We have to pass it and we want to hear from him and if we don’t we are going to vote no.

Well, well, well. Representative Smith in case you missed it here is Article 2, Section 2, Clause 2:

He shall have power, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to make treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, shall appoint ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, judges of the Supreme Court, and all other officers of the United States, whose appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by law: but the Congress may by law vest the appointment of such inferior officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the courts of law, or in the heads of departments.

This means the House of Representatives have NO say in the approval vote for the President’s Cabinet Members. In case the radical  Leftist Democrat representative from Washington state does not understand, only SENATORS vote yea or nay for approval of General Mattis’  as Secretary of Defense.

It is true the House of Representatived must pass a waiver for General Mattis to serve as Secretary of Defense. But as Barrack Hussein Obama stated “elections have consequences,” the radical Leftist Democrats lost by substantial margins and do not have the votes to prevent a waiver from passing for General Mattis. This brings to mind a saying folks in flyover country have, “It’s too late to close the gate once the cows are out.” The Republicans won, radical Leftist Democrats lost, so the losing party needs to get over it.
